DEM Party İmralı delegation to hold talks in South Kurdistan

The İmralı Delegation of the DEM Party will go to South Kurdistan and hold a series of meetings in Hewlêr and Sulaymaniyah.

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder held a second meeting with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı F Type High Security Closed Prison on Wednesday, January 22. The first meeting had taken place on 28 December 2023, when Öcalan conveyed messages aimed at finding a solution.

The İmralı Delegation will go to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq next weekend. 

In a statement about the visit, the DEM Party said the following:

“The DEM Party İmralı Delegation, which has met Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı twice, continues its talks and meetings with different segments of society and the relevant circles of the Kurdish question. Our delegation will go to the Kurdistan Region this weekend and meet with the officials of the Regional Government. The delegation will include Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, members of the İmralı Delegation, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır, members of our Foreign Relations Commission and party officials.

On Sunday, February 16, the delegation will meet with Massoud Barzani and Nechirvan Barzani in Hewlêr (Erbil). On Monday, February 17, the delegation will go to Sulaymaniyah and meet with the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) Leader Bafil Talabani, Qubat Talabani and PUK officials. During the visits, the details of the talks in İmralı will be shared and the opinions, suggestions and thoughts of those concerned regarding the process will be received and then conveyed to Mr. Öcalan.

Our delegation had previously met with political parties in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and with Figen Yüksekdağ, Selahattin Demirtaş, Leyla Güven and other imprisoned politicians, and conveyed the suggestions, opinions and ideas from these meetings to Öcalan.

On the other hand, our party informed the public about these activities through public meetings and rallies in 42 centers and conveyed the opinions, suggestions, concerns and expectations of the people to the İmralı Delegation in the form of reports.”
