DEM Party Co-Chair visits families who lost their beloved ones

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, who travelled to Hatay on the occasion of Eid, visited the families of those killed in various places and dates.

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları visited Hatay as part of her Ramadan Feast (Eid al-Fitr) programme. Tülay Hatimoğulları and the accompanying delegation first visited the family of Ali İsmail Korkmaz, a university student who was murdered during the Gezi protests, living in the Ekinci neighbourhood of Antakya.

Korkmaz's mother, Emel Korkmaz, welcomed the delegation and said, "You did not leave us alone on this holiday. I thank you all, we have gained strength from solidarity."

Hatimoğulları stated: "We are with the family of Ali İsmail Korkmaz. The meaning of the Gezi resistance was explained to the whole of Turkey and the world by organising a beautiful solidarity with our families. We have never forgotten Ali İsmail, Ahmet Atakan and all Gezi martyrs and we will never forget them."

Tülay Hatimoğulları and the accompanying delegation then visited the families of Ahmet Atakan, who was killed in Hatay during the Gezi protests, Halil Aksakal (Mazlum Aktaş), who was martyred in 2015 in the fight against ISIS in Northern and Eastern Syria, and Okan Pirinç, who was killed in an ISIS attack in Suruç district of Urfa on 20 July 2015.
