Demirtaş: We expect to visit İmralı at the weekend

Answering journalists' questions after a press conference by components of the Northern Kurdistan Unity and Solution Conference in Amed, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş said that they expected to pay a visit to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı prison at the weekend.

Asked whether the meeting will handle the democracy package the government will announce next week, Demirtaş avoided making comments on the course of the talks, reminding that “We have not been able to go to İmralı for nearly a month now, while the meetings (with BDP and Öcalan) should have taken place every 15 days and attended by enlarged delegations”.

BDP co-chair criticized the government for preparing the democracy package without consulting other political parties and non-governmental organizations, and not even announcing its titles and content.Demirtaş said this was because the AKP government wanted to "create an agenda of its own".
