HDP Co-president Demirtaş spoke at a rally yesterday in Dersim, saying: "7 June will see the end of the AKP and the beginning of our march. Now is the time to create our country.”
HDP Co-president Selahattin Demirtaş was met at the Mazgirt bridge by hundreds of people, amongst them HDP Dersim candidates Alican Önlü and Edibe Şahin, Dersim co-mayors Mehmet Ali Bul and Nurhayat Altun and local representatives of HDP, DBP, DHF, Partizan, ESP and EMEK.
'We have to unite'
Demirtaş spoke to thousands of people in the centre of Dersim, saying that the HDP could oppose the monist mentality of AKP. “The AKP and the others wish to maintain the old system and are seeking new assaults. Beliefs have been banned for hundreds of years. Alevis, Sunnis and Yazidis have been incited against each other. One sect is given prominence over the others and hostility has been encouraged. We have to oppose this. We have to unite to demolish the reactionary system imposed on us and create a world in which everyone can live. The forces united under the HDP umbrella will succeed. The population of Dersim has fallen on account of repression.”
''The end of the AKP government has come”
Demirtaş said that the AKP government was coming to an end, adding that the HDP had succeeded in uniting the revolutionary movements in the province, something the people had yearned for. Demirtaş said: "We are continuing to resist. Kaypakkaya died under torture, Deniz, Yusuf and Hüseyin on the gallows and Mazlum and Hayri in Amed prison. They were the heroes of the mountains of Dersim.”
He said there had been resistance in Maraş, Sivas, Rojava and in Kobanê, and that this would continue. "7 June will see the end of the AKP and the beginning of our march. Now is the time to create our country.”
'Trainee PM!'
Demirtaş said: "Yesterday the trainee Prime Minister was in Iğdır. He is nearing the end of his internship but he will have no chair. It will be difficult for him. May God help him. His boss told him to gather votes. They think the people are stupid. There is no limit to the theft they have carried out. They have committed many sins at home and abroad.”
Demirtaş concluded his speech, saying: "If you say ‘enough is enough of the AKP’, then to demolish it would be worthy of you. We want to exceed the threshold with the votes of people from Dersim. Let us construct a new life together.”
