Following the talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoðlu as well as Iraq's fugitive vice president Tariq al-Hashemi in Istanbul, President of Federal Kurdistan Regional Government, Massoud Barzani, met the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) delegation in Ankara. The meeting on Friday was attended by BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ, Gültan Kýþanak and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chair Ahmet Türk.
Speaking to daily Akþam paper after the meeting, BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ said Barzani shouldn't be seen as the addressee of the Kurdish question in Turkey.
Demirtaþ pointed out that the delegation's meeting with Barzani mainly addressed the subjects of regional developments in line with the situation in Syria, Iraq and Baghdad, the subjects that also formed the main framework of Barzani's visit to U.S. the week before, he added.
We didn't broach the subject of the government's demand on PKK's laying down arms. The government doesn't have this subject on the agenda either, as far as I am concerned, said Demirtaþ and pointed out that some circles in Turkey grounded the solution of the issue on Barzani and considered him to be the 'leader to come up with a solution to the Kurdish problem'.
Barzani also doesnt intend or claim to be the addressee of the Kurdish problem in Turkey, underlined Demirtaþ and added; The Kurdish problem in Turkey cannot be solved through Barzani or Talabani.
Barzani defines his own role in making a favorable contribution to the efforts given in the region, said Demirtaþ and added; He stated he could play a part in ensuring peaceful means to a solution.
