Expressing his sorrows for the death of 24 PKK members, whose bodies are held at Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute, BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ commented the happenings as the “heavy and bitter price for war”. Demirtaþ said; “It is a great tragedy and sadness for us to see the children of this people, who try to end the war, demand peace and give this much effort for solution, lose their lives in this way.”
Peace and Democracy Party Co-Chair Demirtaþ made a statement after the discovery of 24 bodies claimed to be of HPG guerrillas who allegedly lost their lives in Çukurca (Çelê) district of Hakkari. While the bodies, all burnt and fractionated, are held in Malatya since October 24, one of the bodies was identified today and confirmed as HPG (People’s Defense Forces) guerrilla Ebru Muhi Kancý who was born in Kars province, Roj TV reported.
Demirtaþ also said that; “Both the photos of bodies and the information we received show that all bodies were subjected to torture and teared apart. Before anything else, this is savagery and a war crime and the responsible of this pain are those who act with the feeling of revenge and making people suffer. The feeling of such a great revenge and hate can’t be explained with humanity. Beyond a war, this is an event of taking revenge with a great savagery.”
Remarking that the AKP was the political responsible for all losses of lives, Demirtaþ also gave an attention grabbing information which notified that the bodies of dead PKK members would be brought together and recorded on a video. “I suppose this program was cancelled for coinciding with the earthquake in Van”, said Demirtaþ and stated that the BDP continued searching the reality of the news. Demirtaþ also mentioned an allegation of 20 more bodies about which no exact information was available at the moment, he added.
Demirtaþ ended his speech by calling all Kurdish people to react against this savagery and to ultimately protect the bodies of their children. “All our people should reflect their reaction against military and political operations”, said Demirtaþ and noted that the party of the Kurdish people also had the necessary power and determination to resist against all kinds of pressures.
