Demirtaþ; "Erdoðan should change his perspective"

Commenting Prime Minister Erdoðan's words ‘the war on terror and negotiations in politics will continue” as “noncontributory to solution”, BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ called on the Prime Minister to look at the issue from a different perspective by abandoning the definitions of terror and terrorist. Demirtaþ expressed that the BDP can play a greater role if the ongoing military operations are ended.

While Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan continues to give the message that ‘operations will continue’ and to deem the Kurdish side responsible for the happenings, the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), seen as the address of political negotiations, expressed that a concurrent, coordinated and solution-oriented effort needs to be given for deliberations.

Demirtaþ indicated PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan as the primary address of negotiations, noting that separate talks and negotiations should correspondingly be conducted with the BDP for the new constitution and democratization and with the PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party) for peace. Noting that a permanent result can only be accomplished in this way, BDP Co-Chair stated that Erdoðan should end military operations and ensure freedom, health and security conditions for Öcalan if he really wants a permanent solution, which would let the BDP play a greater role in the process.
