Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ said there will not be any changes to the planned Newroz celebrations despite the Ministery of Interior Affairs decision to ban them.
The Governorships of Istanbul, Ankara, Diyarbakýr, Dersim, Batman, Elazýð and Kars had said on Fridat that Newroz celebrations would not be allowed on the planned dates and could be held only on March 21. BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ said in a post on his twitter account, “All of the planned events will be held. The Ministry could have banned our celebrations but we will hold them anyway in all cities and districts at the planned location and time.”
BDP Diyarbakýr co-chair Zübeyde Zümrüt had said that the planned Newroz celebration would be held on March 18 despite the governorship’s decision.
