In his closing remarks at the BDP deputies meeting, Selahattin Demirtaþ said that "The intention of the government is to ignore the will of a nation through the figure of Hatip Dicle". Demirtaþ added that the ruling AK party has no plan or suggestion for peace in its programme. "It is an obvious injustice - said Demirtaþ - to hand the votes of an independent deputy over to another party. We are witnessing a theft. We are trying to develop democracy and we are trying to discuss about the ways of removing the obstacles before the full implementation of democratic politics. The front against us is one of national consensus developed to block the progress of democratic rights and freedoms."
Demirtaþ continued as follows; "The Kurdish people and their representatives are ready to pay the price. The government doesn't understand the value of our insistence on finding the solution at the parliament despite all the preventions we have faced and the importance of democratic politics. The major responsible of the ongoing and unending bloodshed in the country are those who are trying to prevent us and peace. The stronger the politics grows, the closer gets the peace. The agreement we are trying to make is a seek for an agreement for the future of Turkey, it is not relevant with the agreement the CHP is looking for. The parliament should take an initiative to avoid similar crisis and to open the way of turkey in the coming process. The mutual understanding of the parties in the parliament should promise peace and democracy. We can't expect a democratic treatment unless these conditions are met."
Remarking that the the government's new program is lacks in a peace project, Demirtaþ said the followings; "The struggle for peace is a a struggle of dignity. We demand local governments and regional councils which will be coordinated by the central government. The most democratic discussions can be held at the parliament. Turkey now has a new block and power whose existence hasn't been proved precisely. The powers in Turkey will henceforwards recognize and listen to each other."
Demirtaþ added that they will meet with the AKP group in the coming days and consider Prime Minister's call to "return to the Parliament".
