Speaking in the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) group meeting, co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ called once again for the establishment of the necessary conditions for negotiation for a peaceful solution of the Kurdish issue.
The government should first of all explain why the negotiations that have been carried out for two and a half years were ended. We are ready to establish a dialogue so to favour the creation of the necessary conditions of a negotiation. I suggest that our meeting with the government be broadcast live so that Turkey gets to know what is going on, said Demirtaþ.
Demirtaþ cited Öcalans arrested lawyers who, he said, were in fact taken hostage to prevent negotiations in Ýmralý Island and Oslo. He called on the government to start the negotiations by releasing the arrested lawyers.
Demirtaþ also noted that the Amara rally for Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalans birthday is a legitimate right and added that they will be in Amara for the celebration today.
