BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) chairman Selahattin Demirtaþ pointed out that military operations continue even in the month of Ramadan, the month of fast for muslim people. "We hope - he said - that the month of Ramadan will lead to peace in society, which has been missed for a long time in Turkey. If blood is being shed, then the need for peace is urgent".
The BDP deputy added: "The news of death that comes every day and every hour show us that there is a need greater than bread and water. The most immediate need of society is peace".
Demirtaþ said that "If mothers are crying every day, then the main responsibility of the political authorities is to remedy this urgent need,” he said. “We will continue putting an effort into this, ignoring the provocations aimed at our party".
The deputy ended his remarks by saying that "We believe in peace, brotherhood, equality, and freedom. We will continue down the path we believe in with determination in order to provide these things. Our duty is to serve the public".
