Demo against the seizure of HDP municipalities in Rome

Protests for HDP municipalities continue across Europe.

On August 19 the AKP regime seized the metropolitan municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin by removing the democratically elected co-mayors and appointing trustees in their place. In tandem with the operation against three municipalities, over 400 people were taken into custody as a result of house raids in dozens of cities.

Kurds and their friends in Rome, Italy set up a tent on the busiest Largo di Torre Argentina street where they hand out leaflets and inform the passersby about the seizure of the HDP-run municipalities in Kurdish cities by the Turkish regime.

The demonstration, promoted by UIKI, Ararat and Reter Kurdistan, aims to create awareness on the political coup against the will of Kurdish citizens.

Demonstrators opened banners protesting the trustees and chanted slogans commending the resistance against the usurpation of municipalities.

The protest will continue tomorrow as well.
