Kurds and their friends continue to protest against the agreement signed between the Iraqi government and the KDP on the future of Shengal where autonomous structures are meant to be dissolved.
The Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DTKM) organised a demonstration in Sydney, Australia in protest at the isolation imposed on Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and the agreement concluded between KDP and the Iraqi government regarding Shengal (Sinjar).
A speech made during the demonstration at Town Hall in the name of the organising committee denounced the conspiracies against Shengal and recalled the repeated massacres suffered by the Yazidi people throughout their history.
The organisers highlighted the fact that the agreement made between the governments of Kurdistan region and Iraq was made to coincide with the anniversary of the October 9 conspiracy against Öcalan, thus giving the message that the conspiracy against Öcalan continues. The organisers pointed to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan as the address for dialogue.
The activists called on the Australian government, United Nations, USA and European countries to recognise the autonomy of Shengal to make sure that the Yazidi people are not subjected to yet another genocide.
Following the speeches, the demonstration was concluded with slogans saluting the resistance of Shengal.
