Demo in Gävle calls for a boycott of Turkish products and tourism

The Rojava Committee in Gävle in northern Sweden has called for a boycott of Turkey because of the ongoing Turkish invasion of northern and eastern Syria.

The Rojava Committee in Gävle is actively involved in the campaign to boycott the Turkish tourism industry and Turkish state enterprises. On the last day of the year it drew attention to the campaign in front of the Coop grocery store. The Coop offers many products from Turkey.

The activists carried signs with boycott calls and distributed leaflets. Passers-by were informed about the war and the crimes of the Turkish state in Rojava in a personal conversation.

The leaflets distributed by the activists said: "Murders and kidnappings take place every day in Rojava. Children become victims of this war. The raisins and walnuts bought here contribute to genocide."

As part of the campaign, the film "Sara" will be shown on 9 January. The documentary is about the life of Sakine Cansiz, who was murdered six years ago in Paris by the Turkish secret service together with two other Kurdish revolutionaries, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez.
