Demo in London against Turkish operation

As the international community of the states and governments remains shamefully silenced about the Turkish invasion of the Kurdistan Federal Region and the bombing of villages to continue with its destruction policy against the Kurds, the civil society organizations are preparing demonstration in various European cities. Germany is the place where most of the demos are taking place. But Friday people will take to the street in London as well.

The organizers of the London demonstration are calling on the public opinion to participate. "The Turkish authorities have resumed shelling across the Iraqi border into Kurdish areas of Iraq. They have said they are targeting the fighters of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), however, civilians injured and died and livestock has been hit and forcing the inhabitants to evacuate", the appeal reads.

The appeal continues by remembering that "on 21 August 2011, seven members of the same family killed by the Turkish bombardment, reported Hawlati online in Kurdish on Sunday. They are: Hussein Mustafa Hassan, Sonya Shamal Hassan, Mer Haji Mak Kak, Oskar Awzer Hassan, Rezan Hussein Mustafa and Zana Hussein Mustafa. The family were resident of the village of Boleni of Binari Qandil. Turkey regularly bomb Kurdistan border regions under the pretext of eliminating Kurdish rebels".

Freedom Umbrella (Chatre Azadi) is holding a protest in front of the Turkish embassy in London to condemn shelling of the mountainous area on the border of Kurdistan by the Turkish authorities. In a statement issued by the organisation in Kurdish requested: “Stop shelling the border region of Kurdistan and compensations to be made to the victims of this bombardment.”

The appointment is between 2 and 4pm in 43 Belgrave Square, London, SW1X 8PA
