The police from Aydýn Police Department raided the Democratic Solution Tent last night and checked out people id in the tent. Police are harassing Kurds to remove the tents since the tents were pitched.
Women who protect the tent reacted against the police’s raids and said; “Our tent is for peace, freedom, friendship and equality. We want a world where no one’s child will be killed. We will look after our tent for this aim.”
Independent candidate for Aydýn running for upcoming parliamentary election, Mehmet Bayraktar, visited the tent.
People in Mersin protested the oppressions on the Democratic Solution Tents and police’s killing 17-year-old Ýbrahim Oruç in Bismil.
The Democratic Solution Tents are part of the civil disobedience initiatives carried out by Kurds and promoted by BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) and DTK (Democratic Society Congress). The people with this initiatives are underlining their four demands: rights to education in their mother tongue, an end to the military and political operations against Kurdish people, the release of political prisoners and the lowering of the 10 percent election threshold.
