The Democratic Student Council called on everyone to "be the voice of the prisoners let in jail to die."
The Democratic Student Council (DÖM) made a statement on the condition of ill prisoners in Avcılar Square, in Istanbul.
A banner saying ‘There is massacre in the dungeons, freedom for the sick prisoners’ was opened at the press statement.
'Ill prisoners are being left to die'
The statement said that human dignity was ignored by the policies carried out by the AKP and MHP, and added: "The dead bodies of prisoners are brought out from jails every day. What is implemented here is the law of the enemy. The state of torture and isolation in the prisons is imposed over the whole society in the person of the families of the prisoners. Ill prisoners are left to die in jails, despite all their health problems. Release orders are rejected on the pretext of 'security'.
Let’s be the voice of the prisoners
The statement recalled that Garibe Gezer, Halil Güneş, Abdulrezzak Şuyur, Salih Toğrul died in prison and added that “Sinan Kaya, who was held in a single cell in Iğdır S Type Closed Prison, was killed. Şervan Cangüder, who was held in Van F Type Closed Prison, was murdered. Abdullah Boran, an 80-year-old suffering from cancer, was murdered in Diyarbakır D Type Closed Prison. The situation of the friends who are near death or who have been pushed to death because of the the lack of intervention, shows the level reached by AKP-MHP fascism. We call on everyone to increase the struggle against the oppression, torture and violence in the prisons to be the voice of the prisoners outside. We are here against the torture and massacre carried out by the AKP-MHP fascist alliance on ill prisoners. We're here for the two little 5 year-old children who have been detained for wearing their national clothes. We are here as Kurdish youth."
