A demonstration against the genocidal policies of the Turkish state was held in Switzerland.
Victims of the Maras, Roboski and 19 December Prison massacres were commemorated in the city of Basel, Switzerland.
Activists also protested against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and saluted the resistance carried out by DTK Co-Chair and HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven.
The group gathered at Dreinrose park and marched to Theodorskirch platz. The march enjoyed the support of Swiss left circles.
Activists were carrying PKK flags and photos of Öcalan and chanted slogans condemning the Turkish state’s past massacres as well as the new threats issued against Rojava.
At the end of the march, speeches were made.
Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, Hüseyin Mamaklı said that the 19 December Prison and Roboski Massacres were part of the State tradition. “Those who did not expose the perpetrators of Maraş and Roboski, are seeking new massacres of the Kurdish people today. But today they face a Kurdish people resisting and guiding the Middle East.”
Mamaklı pointed out that the Kurdish people would continue to defend the need to free Öcalan under all circumstances.
Zürcher: The world should defend the Rojava Revolution
Swiss BasTa Party co-chair, Tonja Zürcher, said that the Kurds should not be left alone in their protest against the US decision to withdraw from Syria.
Emphasizing the importance of the Kurds' fight against DAESH (ISIS), Zürcher remarked that all humanity should protect the Rojava Revolution and stand by it. "Rojava is never alone”, added Zürcher, urging Europe to act to end the threats against Rojava.
Glattli: The importance of the Rojava revolution
Speaking after Zürcher, Greens National Parliament MP Balthasar Glattli pointed out the importance of the Rojava Revolution and emphasized that the Kurds should not be left alone. “The Rojava Revolution - said Glattli - is not only for the Middle East. It is a model that will serve as an example for Europe as well.”
