Many actions were carried out in Europe to defend Shengal and the Yazidi. Activists protested the Iraqi government’s threats to Shengal.
Duisburg
In Duisburg there was a rally in front of the main train station. Local Kurdish association had mobilized together with the Yazidi organizations.
Berlin
In the capital Berlin, people also expressed their solidarity with Shengal. Members of the Armenian diaspora also joined the demonstration with hundreds of participants.
Saarbrücken
A rally took place in front of the Europa-Galerie in Saarbrücken. “As a Yazidi community, we appeal to all progressive, revolutionary and democratic forces to support us in our legitimate resistance."
Cologne
The Kurdish community in Cologne gathered at Wiener Platz in the borough of Mülheim to protest the Iraqi government and the South Kurdish government agreement on Shengal and asked them to withdraw the agreement.
Bielefeld
A demonstration was also carried out in Bielefeld. SMJÊ activist Kumri Alkış pointed out that the Yazidi population has been trying for months to make themselves heard to prevent the self-government structures in Shengal from being destroyed.
Giessen
A rally in Giessen was organised for the Yazidi right to self-determination. Memorials were also head for the victims of the Qamishlo, Gazi and Halabja massacres.
Münster
A protest for Shengal was held in front of the main train station in Münster. A speaker described the Shengal Agreement as “another genocide” against the Yazidi people.
