Demonstrations in France for Öcalan and Rojava

MARSEILLE

A march has been staged in French city Marseille to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and protes Turkey’s attacks on Rojava’s Efrîn Canton.

Kurdish people gathered at Canabiere Square and staged a march, chanting slogans for the freedom of Öcalan and holding banners reading "Efrîn faces massacre: Yesterday by ISIS, today by the Turkish state", as well as posters of Öcalan and flags of the PKK and TEV-DEM.

During the following demonstration that started after a minute of silence, a speech was held by People's Council member Yakup Yalçınkaya who stressed that: “We must be out on the streets for Leader Apo everywhere.”

The rally ended with chants of the slogan "Long Live Leader Apo".

BORDEAUX

In another demonstration held in Bordeaux, the Kurds voiced their demand for the freedom of Öcalan and also marked the 33rd anniversary of the August 15 Initiative, the operation in which the PKK launched its first action against Turkish forces.

The speakers described the 15 August Initiative as the Day of Resurrection for the Kurdish people, stressing that a free life will be built by Rojava Revolution on the basis of the August 15 spirit.

The activity ended with chants of slogans expressing loyalty to Öcalan.
