Iranian Deputy Industries, Mines and Trade Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Safdar Rahmatabadi was killed in Tehran Sunday evening. According to Iranian news agency, IRNA, the assassination by an unidentified man occurred in east Tehran while the late deputy minister was riding his car.
The agency quotes an eye witnesses who said a man shot two bullets, one into Rahmatabadi’s chest and the other into his head.
Security forces, along with criminal police officers, rushed to the scene of the crime and an ambulance carried the body of the minister after their inspections ended.
A police officer told IRNA that according to the evidence at the scene, the killer had shot the bullets from inside his own car. “Since two bullet shells were found inside the car, the killer had most probably been talking with Mr. Rahmatabadi.” He also said that there were no signs of any physical engagement, or beating at the place of the assassination.
