Die Partei donates 250 thousand euro to Heyva Sor

German party Die Partei donated 250,000 euros to Heyva Sor a Kurdistan in support of Rojava. Martin Sonneborn, the party's chairman, handed the symbolic check to Heyva Sor executives in front of the CDU headquarters.

German party Die Partei represented by only two deputies in the European Parliament, launched a donation campaign after the Turkish state invasion of North-East Syria on 9 October. Die Partei promised to hand over the funds to a Kurdish charity operating in Rojava.

Die Partei transferred 250 thousand euros into the bank account of Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê (Kurdistan Red Crescent). Martin Sonneborn, the leader of the party, gave Heyva Sor employees Vahdettin Kılıç and Muharrem Aral a symbolic check. The check was delivered in front of the headquarters of the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Berlin to condemn Germany's stance on the invasion of Rojava.

Kılıç thanked Sonneborn for the donation. Sonneborn stated that the donated amount was collected in the first two days within the framework of the 100 thousand euro aid campaign launched.

Die Partei Chairman Martin Sonneborn criticized the Ankara regime for its bombing of Kurds and the use of forbidden weapons.

Noting that German weapons and military vehicles were used in the invasion, Sonneborn said: "I cannot go to Syria, but I trust Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê and I am sure that the money will be used for the necessary purposes."

Founded in 2004, Die Partei describes itself as a "Party for Labour, Rule of Law, Animal Protection, Promotion of Elites and Grassroots Democratic Initiative". The party was founded in 2004 by the editors of the German satirical magazine Titanic.
