Dozens of bodies discovered in mass graves in Raqqa

Raqqa Civil Council’s Emergency Intervention Units have completed the works in the mass grave in the city zoo where 400 bodies were discovered.

Emergency Intervention Units have completed the works in the mass grave where civilians brutally murdered by ISIS gangs were buried in. When the residents of Al-Badoo neighborhood informed the authorities of a mass grave in the city zoo, EI Units launched efforts to extract bodies. The unit retrieved 400 bodies from the mass grave.

Unit member Yasir El-Xemîs spoke about the matter and said: “We continue to retrieve bodies of people murdered by the gangs in and around the city. We have retrieved 650 bodies in the mass graves we worked in to date. Locals are helping us in finding the mass graves.”

El-Xemîs asked the people of Raqqa to inform them of similar situations.

THE EMERGENCY INTERVENTION UNITS

The Emergency Intervention Units were founded within the Raqqa Civil Council with the start of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates. Since the day they were founded, the units have honed their skills to expert levels.

The unit, which includes a doctor, works meticulously in mass graves for victims of ISIS.

The bodies retrieved from mass graves are buried properly after processes for identification are completed.
