Democratic Society Congress (DTK)'s Education and Language Committee has urged Kurdish children to a boycott between September 19 and 23, the first week of the school year. Kurds want to use their mother language in all areas, not only in restricted conditions said DTK and remarked that children can use neighborhood councils and houses as schools where they can continue their education in their mother tongue.
Making a written statement about the 2011-2012 Education year, DTK Education and Language Committee pointed out that the crimes against humanity in the 19th and 20th centuries continue today with the policy of suppressing rights, languages and cultures of minorities by dominant forces that intend to make their power infinite and interminable.
Underlining that peoples, nations and tribes resist against this policy and protect their language and culture more and more, DTK emphasized that the inherited policies of suppression are downgraded by this kind of revolts.
The statement also laid emphasis that the monist mindset, dominating in the late years of Republic, applied policies of assimilation against Kurds and other minority peoples in the late periods of Republic which at the beginning enabled the representation of Turkeys languages, cultures and differences at the Parliament.
The statement said; There are still laws of denial and destruction in the Constitution which carries the spirit of the 80 military coup and the children of Kurdish and other peoples are made to take racist oaths at schools every day. Underlining the rightfulness of the demand of Kurdish people for education in mother tongue, the DTK statement said that using mother tongue in all areas is the most natural and lawful demand of Kurds.
