DTK emergency meeting discuss Hatip Dicle exclusion

Stating that YSK's decision about Hatip Dicle is "a clear expression of the state's approach to the Kurdish problem" DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-Chair Ahmet Türk also stressed that the Block MPs will stand behind their word and all institutions will discuss thoroughly about the current situation. Türk made these remarks at the DTK Permanent Council's meeting which will also deal with the election results.

TÜRK: THE DECISION IS NEITHER JUDICIAL NOR HUMANITARIAN

Making the opening speech at the meeting attended also by DTK Co-Chair and Van MP Aysel Tuðluk, BDP Co-Chair Filiz Koçali, block MPs, opinion leaders, intellectuals and writers, DTK Co-Chair Ahmet Türk said that the decision is not judicial, nor humanitarian or conscientious. Türk expressed that the stated meeting of the council has been an emergency meeting due to the extraordinary developments in Turkey.

WAY PAVED FOR CONFLICT ENVIRONMENT

Türk, remarking that Kurds have been making heavy efforts and made self-sacrifice to open the way for democratic politics which is hindered by the government and the judge, said the followings; "The decision has fairly been made to push Turkey and our people into a conflict environment. The decision, which can't possibly be formulated differently, is a clear expression of the state's approach to the Kurdish problem. We have given great efforts for the actualization of a democratic nation, democratic constitution and democratic republic. There is an account to be given to those who have been elected with the freewill of the people."

OUR PEOPLE WILL REACT

Türk continued as follows; "Our people will react in a democratic way and they will not stand by with folded arms against this illegal attitude and against all this kind of decisions because we are giving a struggle for freedom and democracy. It will not be possible to prevent our people's struggle through this kind of procedures. Turkish intellectuals will not and shouldn't remain silent against this decision which leads Turkey into a clash and chaos environment which could make all of us suffer. Against the decision, we ask and expect the development of a common democratic reaction by all democratic powers."

WILL THE BLOCK ENTER THE PARLIAMENT?

Remarking that the subject will be discussed in details at the meeting, Türk said; "We once more want to express that we stand by our words. We say 'once more' in order to pave the way for a democratic ground and we therefore decided to be in parliament. Should an approach continue to eliminate negotiations, we will act accordingly. We will later on share our conclusions with the public opinion."

The meeting continued behind closed doors after Türk's speech. A statement is expected after the meeting later on today.
