Commemoration events are scheduled for the 40th day after the Maraş-centred earthquakes that heavily damaged at least 11 cities on February 6. As part of the events to mark 2023 Newroz, dedicated to the earthquake victims, no celebrations will be held on March 17, which will mark the 40th day of the earthquakes. Commemoration events will be held in Hatay, Adiyaman, Maraş, Amed, Malatya, Urfa, Antep and Adana under the leadership of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). Six co-chairs, 19 central executive committee members of the HDP, and 33 deputies will attend the events.

EVENT PROGRAM

The Co-chairs will visit the provinces and districts hit by the devastating earthquakes and attend commemorations and mawlids (Islamic memorial service).

HDK Co-Spokeswoman Esengül Demir, HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, Green Left Party Co-Spokesperson Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, HDP central executive committee members and deputies will attend events in Hatay.

HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan, and the party's central executive committee members will attend events in Adiyaman.

DTK Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk, HDP Women's Assembly Spokeswoman Ayşe Acar Başaran, and the party's central executive committee members will attend events in the Pazarcık district of Maraş. Green Left Party Co-Spokesperson İbrahim Akın, HDP Co-Chair Tayip Temel, HDP central executive committee members and deputies will be in the Narlı district of Maraş. HDP Deputy Co-Chair Feleknas Uca and party’s deputies will be in Elbistan, the epicentre of the second earthquake.

DBP Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz, HDP Deputy Co-Chair Serhat Eren and party’s deputies will attend events in Malatya. HDP Spokeswoman Ebru Günay and party’s deputies will be in Urfa. HDP Group Deputy Chair Saruhan Oluç, the party's central executive committee members and deputies will participate in events in the Islahiye district of Antep.

HDP Deputy Co-Chairs, party's central executive committee members and deputies will attend commemoration events in Amed (Diyarbakır) and Adana.
