DTK to hold its general meeting at the end of the month

The DTK (Democratic Society Congress) will hold the 6th Ordinary General Meeting on 28-29 January to determine an attitude towards the attacks of the AKP in the recent period, reported DIHA. The meeting which will be held in a process of extraordinary political developments will address the Kurdish politics in particular, the isolation ön PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Roboski massacre and the so-called “KCK” operations.

The Ordinary General Meeting is held every six months by the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) which represents the region with a structure made up of elected delegates, deputies, mayors, members of Provincial and City Councils, neighborhood headmen, political parties, political groups, civil society organizations as well as representatives of all ethnic, religious and community groups in the region and academicians, intellectuals and opinion leaders.

It is reported that the meeting will give an answer to the question “What Kurds will do” in the face of most recent developments including the isolation of Öcalan and arrest of thousands of politicians within the scope of so-called “KCK” operations.

Following intense discussions to last for two days, the attitude to be adopted towards the current process is expected to be declared with a press statement on January 29.

During the two-day meeting, DTK will also appoint new members to the place of a large number of former members who have been targeted and put in prison on the grounds of “being KCK members” following the declaration of Democratic Autonomy by Kurds.
