Turkey has sentenced former HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven to 22 years in prison. She has been accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation.
Basque left coalition EH Bildu said it considered the arrest and sentence as an attack on Kurds and reminded in a statement how "last June Leyla Güven, Musa Farisoğulları and Enis Berberoğlu were arrested after being stripped of their parliamentary immunity. Turkey has issued an immediate arrest warrant and sentenced Güven to 22 years in jail."
EH Bilud said: "The June arrests and this sentence are a direct attack on the Kurdish people and the Turkish opposition. Güven has being arrested as the European Court of Human Rights ordered Turkey to release immediately Kurdish HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtas."
EH Bildu continued: "We ask Turkey to cease all these attacks and comply with the European convention of Human Rights and free Demirtas."
