Eight people included three children lost their life as a result of the overflow of Mert River in Canik distict of Samsun on Tuesday. The flood victims, except for one of them who died in Derbant region, were caught by the flood disaster in the ground floors of TOKÝ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) buildings in Canik district.

The heavy rainfall in Samsun continued for a long time on Tuesday evening, leading to flooding in some places of the city.

Four other people could hardly be rescued from the flood by means of construction vehicles on Samsun-Ordu way where cars were swept away into a brook. Construction vehicles were also sent to Derbant region to save people waiting for help on roofs and cars.
