At least eight soldiers died and sixteen others were wounded in three separate clashes in Daðlýca region of Yüksekova/Hakkari.

Many helicopters were sent to the clashes area to carry wounded soldiers to a hospital in Hakkari. It is claimed that clashes broke out following a guerrilla action which targeted a military post in Daðlýca.

The first official statement on clashes and casualties was made by Hakkari deputy governor Önder Bozkurt who confirmed deaths and injuries of Turkish soldiers. Some of the wounded soldiers are reported to have suffered life threatening injury.

An expansive air-supported operation has been launched in the region where clashes are reported to continue.
