Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block’s Mersin Independent Candidate Ertugrul Kürkcü said; “We will convey the voices of Turks, Kurds, Arabs, Christians, Assyrians, Alevi citizens to the parliament. We will be the fist of the oppressed and exploited workers and laborers. We will represent the real components of the peoples of Turkey”.
Met with enthusiasm by the people in Mersin, Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block’s Mersin Independent Candidate Ertugrul Kürkcü addressed to thousands of people at a meeting at Akdeniz Municipality Sports Facilities on Thursday.
Speaking before Kürkcü, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Provincial Chair Cihan Yilmaz said the followings; “The system parties did not bestow favor on the Kurdish people and Turkish laborers and socialists. We have taken the right we deserve. As the block’s components, we are walking pertinaciously towards building the social peace in Turkey, the Kurdish national unity and the brotherhood of peoples. This people have the power to defeat the anti-democratic implementations and inhumane treatments. We do not have any problem with the people. The oppressed and those whose identity and belief were prohibited are our honour; whether Turks or Arabs. With 100 thousand votes, we will send Mr.Kürkcü, the symbol of peoples’ brotherhood and the comrade of Deniz, Ibo (two revolutionists among the executed by the Turkish state at the military coup in 1980) to the parliament.
Speaking after Yýlmaz, BDP’s Akdeniz Mayor M. Fazýl Türk drew attention to the importance of the elections on June 12. türk said the followings; “Mr. Kürkcü is a great chance for Turkey and Mersin because the new Parliament is going to prepare a new democratic constitution that will clear off the denial and pressure of years. In Mersin, Arabs, Turks, Kurds have been living brotherly for many years. They tried to spoil it but the people did not allow. Our people are going to ‘live together’. . Because this country is ours, it is of all of us”.
Making a speech afterwards, Kürkcü spoke as follows; “I thank you all for the great solidarity, unity and togetherness you have created while beginning our electoral workings today. If we are going to do perform an action at the parliament, this will be your action. The deputies of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block you will send into the parliament are going to fight for our peoples’ peace, brotherhood, freedom and equality and for a country where the labor and laborer can obtain their rights. We will all together raise the humanitarian aspects of socialism and the flag of peoples’ brotherhood. Peace be upon you all, we are together until June 13th. We will visit Kurds, Turks, Arabs, Christians, Assyrians and Alevi citizens. Against the AKP power, we will, as people, stand against all those who confront the peoples against each other, against the cruel and the exploiter. Long live liberty, bijî bijî rizgarî, bijî azadî".
Inviting the citizens at the area to the May 1 meeting, Kürkcü said; “We shall show everyone that May 1 is the day of solidarity of people from all nationalities and ages. We shall raise the Mersin flag in the labor struggle. I wish you happy May 1 in advance. I wish all of you days of glory, peace and honor”.
Kürkcü was one of the BDP supported independent candidates excluded by the Elections Board from running as a candidate in the 12 June general elections. In a dramatic turn the Board was forced to revert its decision after people in their thousands took to the street for a week to protest against the exclusion.
