The Governor of Istanbul has reported that eleven workers lost their lives in a fire which broke out in a shopping center construction area in Esenyurt district of Istanbul.

The fire in Güzelyurt Neighborhood broke out late on Sunday night in tents where 200 construction workers were living. While the fire is said to have been caused by an electric heater in a tent, eleven workers burnt to death or lost their lives because of smoke poisoning.

Public prosecutor with fire brigade and police teams has been examining the area.

It is reported that the majority of workers were coming from other cities to work.
