DEM Party co-spokespersons of Foreign Affairs, Ebru Günay and Berdan Öztürk, condemned in a statement "Israel's political assassinations, which are in violation of international law and could be considered war crimes."
The statement said: "The invasion and genocidal practices in Gaza by Israel’s Netanyahu Government is being continued with political assassinations in several Middle Eastern countries. This war, which has massacred over 40,000 civilians, has reached even more dangerous levels with the latest attacks, thanks to the irresponsible and unlawful policies of the Netanyahu Government. The DEM Party condemns these political assassinations, which are in violation of international law and could be considered war crimes.
Through such attacks and similar actions, Israel is not only ending hopes for a ceasefire but also aims to drag the region into a larger war, with further conflicts and deeper chaos, presenting nothing other than new massacres and genocides to the peoples of the Middle East in the 21st century."
The statement added: "The public should see the fundamental reason behind why the Netanyahu Government continues to insist on war, despite the failure of its dirty war policies and declining support even among its own public. It should be known that any government that fears peace and a solution insists on war to protect its interests that it hides from the people. Therefore, it is time to increase the demand for peace in opposition to the Netanyahu Government, which fears peace and political solutions.
As history has shown us in the past, and will show again, the legitimate and rightful demands of a people cannot be suppressed by political assassinations. The fact that the rightful and legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people is being voiced by people all around the world today is a sign that the free future of the Palestinian people is near."
The DEM Party emphasized that "the only solution lies in political dialogue and peaceful negotiation, and that lasting peace and stability in the Middle East can only be achieved through the common, equal, and free coexistence of peoples from all identities, beliefs, and cultures."
