Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan is visiting Athens for the 5th meeting of the Turkey-Greece High Level Cooperation Council.
As part of the security measures taken for Erdoğan, who arrived in the capital Athens with an army of bodyguards, 3,500 strong Greek police were deployed.
In the city, which is under police blockade, security will be provided by unmanned aerial vehicles during the visit. Dozens of roads were closed to traffic for Erdoğan, who made the centre of Athens inaccessible.
Erdoğan, who will first meet with President Ekaterini Sakelaropulu, will then meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, of whom he once said "There is no such person for me". Following the joint press conference of Erdoğan- Mitsotakis, the visit will end after a working dinner.
