Erdogan gets 26% raise

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s gross salary is rising to 74.500 Liras. The Palace will receive 2.8 billion Liras from the budget.

The Presidential Palace Budget for 2019 has been announced. The Palace will receive 2.8 million Liras.

The details of the budget shows that Erdogan’s gross salary has seen a 26% increase from last year.

In the Parliamentary System’s 2018 budget, Erdogan’s gross salary was 59.000 Liras. In the Presidential System, the gross salary rose to 74.500 Liras in a 26% increase.

Erdogan’s gross salary for 2020 is expected to be 81.750 Liras monthly and for 2021, his yearly gross salary is expected to go over 1 million Liras.

Former President Abdullah Gül’s gross salary during his term used to see 7 to 11% increases every year. Gül had received 40.000 Liras in gross salary in the last year of his term, 2014, until August.

The budget doesn’t include the riches the President and his close circle have accumulated through the abuse of power.

Meanwhile in Turkey, the poverty line increased 1200 Liras in the last year as the starvation line increased 370 Liras. Minimum wage remained stagnant at 1.603 Liras gross. Wages have all but melted away with the sharp rise in the USD, and it doesn’t seem possible to survive on 1.600 Liras in the conditions the Erdogan regime has created. According to Turkish Statistics Bureau, there are 8 million people living on minimum wage. The real number is assumed to be much higher.
