Explosion at Baku-Tbilisi pipeline

An explosion was reported on Tuesday evening on the oil pipeline passing from Sarýkamýþ, in Kars. Witnesses say that the flames of the explosion fire were as high as 100 meters.

The gas flow on the pipeline was completely interrupted as many fire brigade trucks were sent to the scene.

The explosion broke the glasses of many houses in the neighborhood of Sarýkamýþ. Flames caused by the explosion could be seen from a distance of kilometers.

In a statement about the explosion, Sarýkamýþ district governor Erdoðan Turan Ermiþ said that; “It is not clear what caused the explosion on Baku- Tbilisi pipeline. The crisis desk at the district governorate is watching the developments and investigating the event. We have taken all necessary measures.”
