Three civilians and five police officers died as a result of an explosion in Güroymak (Norþîn) district of Bitlis, according to initial reports.

While at least nine people were wounded in the explosion which occurred during the pass of a police vehicle, a civilian vehicle also sustained a great injury from the explosion. Three civilians in this car are reported to have lost their lives.

Police and special team units blockaded the area of the scene with armed vehicles and closed the way to traffic while an intensive air supported operation was launched in the region.

Meanwhile, two soldiers were wounded in another explosion occurring close to the Ömerli district of Mardin. An operation was launched in the region from air and land after the explosion.
