An explosion occurred Friday morning on a pipeline carrying natural gas from Iran to Turkey, leading to the interruption of supplies.

The Iranian news agency Mehr reported that "the gas flow was interrupted temporarily (...). An explosion occurred on Iranian soil (...). But it was brought under control and repairs are underway on the pipeline". It is not known at this time the cause of the incident. Iran is the second largest supplier of natural gas to Turkey after Russia.
