Families of martyrs: We stand by the hunger strike resistance

PYD's Abdulaziz Abdurrahman recalled that hunger strikes are an effective weapon against the cruelty of the enemy and that this weapon has been used many times throughout Kurdish history.

The families of martyrs in Qamishlo said that they are standing by hunger strikers demanding the end of isolation.

One of the members of the Martyrs’ Families Association of the Western Region of Qamishlo, is Fehime Xelîl. She is the mother of a martyr of the revolution.

Xelîl stated that unjust and illegal isolation was imposed on the Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan and added: “We are standing by the hunger strike resistance as families of the martyrs. In particular, we condemn the attacks of Turkish state forces against the mothers of prisoners on hunger strike. This violence has to stop.”

Abdurrahman stated that he himself had been on hunger strike in prison to protest the oppression of Mihyeddin El-Arabi in the period of Ayyubid 's. “The hunger strike is the weapon against the sovereigns, and a weapon to which the enemy does not know what to answer. No power is able to deal with a person ready to see his or her body melting away. Today our friends are fighting against persecution with their will and determination.”

Vehbiye Sofi, who comes from a family that has many martyrs and revolutionaries, commented Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the hunger strikers and expressed solidarity with the resistance. “The hunger strikers are in our minds every minute and second and we won’t forget them.” 

Sofi added: “We will not abandon our beautiful sons and daughters.”
