Families resist despite the attack

Families gathered in front of the Urfa Type T Prison to draw attention to the death fasts and hunger strikes launched a sit-in despite an attack by soldiers.

Relatives of prisoners gathered in front of the Urfa Type T Prison to draw attention to the indefinite nonalternating hunger strikes launched against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan. HDP Urfa MP Ayse Surucu accompanied the relatives of prisoners, who were attacked by the soldiers as soon as they gathered. The families launched a sit-in despite the attack and the soldiers surrounded the sit-in.

HDP MP Surucu protested the situation, and was threatened by the commander, who said: “You are using people. It is forbidden to gather or issue a statement here. If you come again, we know what we will do with you.”

Mothers surrounded by the soldiers are not allowed to leave even as they wish to attend the visitation hours for their children. One mother fainted during the blockade.

The blockade continues.
