Family of YPG guerrilla waited 6 days to attend funeral

A family of a slain YPG fighter has been waiting on the KRG-Rojava border for six days in order to attend their son’s funeral. Sami Seydo was killed in clashes on October 29th, in the village of Cilbir, in the town of Şerewa in Efrin province. Seydo’s family had fled Rojava and taken refuge in the KRG following attacks by al-Qaeda linked groups.
Seydo’s mother and father along with other relatives wanted to return to Rojava as soon as they received news of their son’s death. However the family was not allowed permission to cross from the KRG. Seydo’s brother Ciger claimed that when “the border security learned that the reason we were returning to Rojava was because of the the death of an YPG fighter they made it even more difficult.”
