Federation of Alevi Foundations says it will use 73 'cemevi' for students' accomodation

The Federation of Alevi Foundations has confirmed that it will open 73 cemevis, the Alevi places of worship, for students' accommodation.

The Federation of Alevi Foundations said it will open 73 cemevis, the Alevi places of worship, to students in need of  accommodation.

University students across the country are protesting the incredibly high rent prices and insufficient dormitories with vigils at night in parks.

The 12 foundations that make up the Alevi federation have 73 cemevis across the country. The federation's head, Haydar Baki Doğan said: "We will allocate all our cemevis for the sheltering of all students in need."

Cemevi guesthouses can host between 400 and 700 students. In addition, students will be offered free meals from cemevis' soup kitchens.
