Fierce clashes continue in Kobanê
The ISIS attacks and the YPG/YPJ (People's / Women's Protection Units) resistance in the Kobanê Canton of West Kurdistan has entered the 16th day today when clashes got heavier as ISIS gangs are continuing to deploy more forces of theirs around the mainly Kurdish town.
YPG and YPJ fighters are strongly responding to the heavy-weaponry attacks recently intensified with an aim to take Kobanê, not allowing gangs to advance into the town where local people have also taken up arms and are taking part in the resistance against the inhuman jihadists. Civilians say they will be supporting the YPG/YPJ forces till the very end, and fight to the last drop of blood. Many people in Kobanê refuse to leave the town and flee to Turkey, also protesting the support they say Turkey is providing to ISIS gangs attacking them.
YPG Press Centre has reported in a written statement on Wednesday that a large number of ISIS members were killed in the ongoing clashes on three fronts of Kobanê in the last one day.
YPG pointed out that the gangs provided with technical support are trying to advance on all three fronts, but have been halted by YPG/YPJ fighters that strongly responded to the attacks in the last 24 hours.
The statement reported that YPG forces carried out expansive actions against the gangs that launched attacks in and around the villages of Mezra Dodê and Kîkan to the east of Kobanê, halting their advance in the region following fierce clashes. YPG said 23 gang members were killed, and an armored vehicle and two heavy weapons belonging to them were destroyed in the action.
YPG said 7 members of the gangs were killed and a vehicle of theirs was destroyed in the village of Şeranê at the same front.
The statement said YPG forces also repulsed the attacks of the gangs on the villages of Halinc and Gulmet, killing 8 gang members in Halinc and 12 in Gulmet village.
The statement added that 8 fighters of the YPG have lost their lives putting a brave resistance against the gangs and having a great role in halting their advance.
