Fierce clashes between YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Protection Units) fighters and ISIS gangs continue on the 25th day of resistance in Kobanê.

Attacking mainly from the eastern and southern fronts last night, the ISIS gangs faced a concerted response from YPG/YPJ forces. According to initial reports from the region, 33 gang members were killed last night, while clashes have intensified even more this morning.

YPG/YPJ forces repulsed 7 attacks of ISIS gangs yesterday. However, the gangs re-launched attacks on the eastern and southern fronts last night.

Eastern front

According to information from reporters on the ground, the gangs launched 4 distinct attacks on Kaniya Kurdan neighbourhood in the east of Kobanê around noon yesterday. The gangs suffered heavy blows in each attack after a strong response from YPG forces. 15 gang members were reported killed in the clashes there.

On Mistenur hill, where the clashes have intensified in recent weeks, fierce clashes took place all through the night. Targeting a group of ISIS, YPG fighters killed 8 gang members.

Southern front

Fierce clashes that started yesterday night on the Aleppo-Termik village road continue. As far as is known, 10 gang members were killed, while a military vehicle was destroyed in the clashes.

Western front

YPG forces launched an operation on an emplacement of the ISIS gangs on the western front. It has been reported that the gangs had to leave the position.

A new attack

It has recently been reported that the gangs have launched a new wave of attacks on all three fronts with heavy weapons in the morning hours.
