First day in the Long March for Freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Paris was completed with meetings in CGT’s Créteil region representation and the Champigny municipality.

Kurds chanted slogans “We are all Öcalan” in the long march organized in Paris, France to protest the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and achieve his freedom. Activists passed out flyers depicting the isolation imposed upon Öcalan throughout the route.

The first day of the march started in front of the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges municipality. Demonstrators first visited CGT, one of France’s larger unions, Créteil region representation office and submitted a folder explaining the isolation imposed upon Öcalan to the union authorities.

The following was said in the meeting with the union representatives: “We are following the events in Turkey closely. The Erdoğan dictatorship must be stopped at once. We support the Kurds’ struggle for freedom and democracy and Mr. Öcalan’s freedom.”

A delegation of municipality workers greeted the marchers in front of the Champigny municipality. The municipality authorities said the following in their speech: “Mr. Öcalan’s proposals for a solution must be heeded. Öcalan is showing the way to permanent peace and stability in Kurdistan and the Middle East. Continued imprisonment of Mr. Öcalan won’t bring about a solution, on the contrary, it will deepen the chaos. The international powers must stop approaching the Kurdish issue passively and take serious steps. Long live the struggle of the Kurdish people.”

The march will continue today in front of the Val-de-Fontany train station at 10:00.
