Five arrested in Nusaybin, Viranşehir and Hakkari

Detention of Kurdish population on the grounds of participating protest demos continues.

Two people in Nusaybin district of Mardin were remanded in custody for joining 6-8 October demos in solidarity with Kobanê resistance, and three other people in Hakkari and Viranşehir district of Urfa for participating 15 February demos condemning the international conspiracy against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

NUSAYBİN

Out of 6 people who were detained in Nusaybin district of Mardin on the grounds of taking part in 6-8 October demos in solidarity with Kobanê resistance, 2 have been remanded in custody. Accused of being member to a terrorist organization, two detainees were sent to Mardin E Type Closed Prison while others were released pending a trial.

VİRANŞEHİR

In Viranşehir district of Urfa, two out of four detainees were remanded in custody on the grounds of joining 15 February demos in protest against the international conspiracy against the Kurdish leader.

HAKKARİ

Out of 19 people, mostly minors, who were detained by special operation teams for joining protest against the 15 February conspiracy in Hakkari, 11 were released after giving a statement at police headquarters and 7 others after being referred to a court. One youth by the name of Erhan Özdemir was arrested and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison for joining the protest demonstration.
