Thousands of women, including human shields, Peace Mothers, DÖKH members, feminists and tens of women's organizations, have arrived in the capital city for the Ankara March which is organized under the leadership of Democratic Free Women's Movement (DÖKH) with the slogan Democratic Solution to the Kurdish Problem, Freedom for Ocalan.
While the women setting from Silopi/Þýrnak were stopped and subject to id control at the search point in Antep by the instruction of the seniors, as police officers expressed, the vehicles from Þýrnak were again stopped in Pozantý district of Adana because of the instruction given by the seniors. On the grounds of Diyarbakýr Public Prosecution Offices decision, Cizre Deputy Mayor Haným Onur, Þýrnak Provincial Council members Sarya Ölmez, BDP Cizre District Administrator Þükran Akyol and Sitiya Zin Womens Counseling Center worker Harika Peker were taken into custody during the id control here. Women reacted to the detentions and argued with the police. Detainees were taken to Diyarbakýr. While the Þýrnak convoy continued to Ankara afterwards, women coming from Bitlis were also stopped at the same control point. DÖKH activist Taybet Belge was similarly detained here and taken to Diyarbakýr.
On the other hand, women setting from western provinces including Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Adana and Mersin have arrived in Ankara. Women have gathered in Toros Street, waiting for the arrival of all participants to start the march to Abdi Ýpekçi Square. Police has taken intense measures throughout the capital city and almost blockaded the main Sýhhýye and Abdi Ýpekçi Squares and Kurtuluþ Park region.
After the meeting, two files, consisting of demands for Freedom for Öcalan and democratic solution to the Kurdish problem, will be conveyed to the Parliament by two seperate delegates.
