Food directorate questioned women's project by Sur municipality

The Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock objected to the production and sale of hand-made pickles and village bread because they don't carry the necessary certificate stating their hygienic quality and standard health conditions of production. The project is run by the Sur Municipality of Diyarbakýr and aimed to provide employment for women and help creating alternative jobs.

Mehmet Ali Koçkaya, Provincial Director of the Food Agriculture and Livestock, said that the institution, responsible for food control, is concerned with the unlicensed production by women in various parts of the city.

Koçkaya remarked that products without the license of Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock shouldn’t be put up for sale.

Koçkaya noted that enterprises without a certificate of approval and unlicensed production will be punished by a pecuniary penalty.
