Four people remanded in custody in Hakkari

Four people in Hakkari have been arrested following their detentions after house raids on April 25.

While 12 out of 21 detainees in Hakkari were not taken to Van Special Authorized Public Prosecution Office, the court procedures of other nine detainees lasted till late night hours. While Alderman Melek Atan, Pehlivan District Headman Isa Saklý were released after giving statements, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Vice Provincial Chair Rahmi Temel, Deputy Mayor Hatice Demir, Provincial Council Vice President Mehtap Daþtan Demirer, Selim Engin, Mehmet Yürür, Sükrü Karaduman and Kadir Sahin have been referred to the High Criminal Court with an arrest warrant for allegedly “being members of an organization”.

While Hatice Demir and Mehtap Daþtan Demirer were  released on conditions of trial without arrest, BDP Vice Provincial Chair Rahmi Temel and Selim Engin, Mehmet Yürür, Sükrü Karaduman and Kadir Sahin were arrested for allegedly “being members of an organization”.

Taken to police department from the court yesterday, BDP Hakkari Deputy Chairman Orhan Koparan, Deputy Mayor Nurullah Ciftçi, Provincial Council President Ferzinde Yýlmaz, BDP provincial administrators Faruk Aksac, Maruf Engin, Ismail Keskin and Ekrem Idem, Central District Vice President Kenan Kaya, Provincial Council members Selahattin Kurt, Abdullah Kýlýc, DTP former Provincial Head Fahri Kurt and BDP employee Fadýl Korkmaz will give statement at Van Prosecution Office today.
