The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) has abducted four teachers traveling on their way to Yoðunbilek Village in the Arýcak district of Elazýð. The van the teachers were traveling with was stopped and the four male teachers were taken by the guerrillas while four women teachers were released.

Elazýð Governor issued a statement and said that abducted teachers were taken to Görese Mountain by foot.

The HPG also abducted a village guard in Dersim after setting two fuel-oil tanks on fire today.

In addition, four other teachers from three different villages of Diyarbakýr’s districts Hazro and Lice, were abducted by the HPG members earlier this week. According to locals, HPG members said during the abduction that they were holding the teachers to protest against the refusal to education in Kurdish in the schools.
